As promised here, I have managed to get my hands on some floor plans for all the different houses here at KAUST. I will do a different blog post for each one so I hope its useful! Worth noting that you will be allocated your house depending on the size of your family – you cannot request a larger/smaller house until you have been here for a year, and then you can start a bidding process to move, if that is what you want to do.
This house is a one bed townhouse and would be for a single person, if you chose to not go into the free shared accomodation.

Please let me know if you have any questions – specific posts you would like me to do.
Follow my Instagram @livinginarabia for regularly posted pictures of life in KAUST and my trips off campus. Have a great day!

Hello and welcome to my blog, detailing my experiences living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
I'm a 33 year old English girl (can you still call yourself a girl if you're a mam?) from the North East of England and I moved to Saudi Arabia in 2015 to work at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology with my other half Paul.
I have a lot of varied passions, many of which have changed in recent years as I have inevitably become older - not yet wiser, still waiting for that bit to happen - but many remain the same. I love to read, music, family, traveling, jumping in at the deep end, terrifying my parents with a recklessness bordering on stupidity, day dreaming, plan making and list writing.
When I was trying to make up my mind about whether to move here from the UK I spent a lot of time reading other people's blogs to give me as much information as possible; hopefully this blog will prove useful to others in the future. I will be posting a few times a week about life in KAUST, experiences in Saudi Arabia, cultural differences, food - and more specifically - veganism, travel and day to day life.
Hopefully this wont be the worlds most boring blog and I hope you find it useful - I'd love for you to get in touch with any questions or suggestions.

Great blog! Thank you for all the information. It’s funny though since I’m a Saudi and from Jeddah. I have been to KAUST a couple of times before and I’m really excited to move there this summer after finishing with my studies here in the US.
I wanted to ask if you have any info about the 1BR apartments, and the pet policy? I’m planning to adopt a kitten!

Hey, thank you so much 😊 it’s a great place here so you’ll really enjoy studying here. Pets are fine, you are allowed a maximum of two so a kitten will be no problem. There are many stray/abandoned cats here so you will have to register your cat, make sure it is microchipped and I would always advise neutering to avoid creating any more baby cats! What specific information do you want on the apartments and I will see what I can find 🙂
